Mr. Richard DalBello

Richard DalBello is the Principal of RDB Space, a space business consulting firm.

Previously, he served as Director of the Office of Space Commerce at the U.S. Department of Commerce, where he led efforts to establish a space traffic management system to ensure safe commercial and international civil space operations. He also oversaw the regulation of the U.S. commercial remote sensing industry and advocated for commercial space interests across the federal government.

Before his tenure at the Department of Commerce, Richard was Vice President of Global Engagement at Virgin Galactic, leading international business development for the company’s carrier aircraft and space vehicles. He also served as Director of Space and Aeronautics in the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP), advising the President’s Science Advisor on space matters and shaping domestic and international space policies.

Earlier in his career, Richard was Vice President of Government Affairs at Intelsat General and held leadership positions as President of the Satellite Broadcasting and Communications Association and the Satellite Industry Association.

He holds a bachelor's degree in political science from the University of Illinois, a master’s degree in law from McGill University, and a doctorate in jurisprudence from the University of San Francisco.
