The Secure World Foundation is proud to announce that the 7th Summit for Space Sustainability will be held in Paris, France on Oct. 22-23, 2025, and will be co-hosted by the Centre National D’études Spatiales (CNES), and the Government of France. Space-based systems and products have become more integral to our daily lives than ever before, not only for public services but also for meeting everyday private sector needs, as the space sector continues to expand with promising growth. This brings us to a crucial question: how can we best utilize the shared domain of outer space? The answer is we must ensure we do so sustainably for the benefit of all humankind. The space domain is undergoing significant transformation, with rapidly growing hazards and threats to critical space infrastructure in recent years. Amidst a period of upheaval marked by geopolitical shifts and rapid technological advancements, ensuring the safe, sustainable, and peaceful use of outer space has become an increasingly urgent global priority. Across the public, private, and academic sectors, we have seen several important initiatives aimed at addressing these challenges. Yet many important conversations have only just begun—and we must act swiftly to advance our shared values and collective benefits in space.
The Summit for Space Sustainability, organized by Secure World Foundation, is the only annual conference dedicated exclusively to space sustainability. By bringing together key leaders, we foster the exclusive exchange of insights and discussions, paving the way for impactful actions on a large scale through multi-stakeholder collaborations that you will not find anywhere else.
Over the past six years, leaders and experts from across governmental, commercial, and academic circles have converged at the Summit for Space Sustainability to tackle complex challenges and develop solutions for the future of space sustainability. The outcomes have been overwhelmingly positive. Last year, more than 600 participants from around the world attended the event in Tokyo, both virtually and in person, engaging in dynamic and forward-looking discussions highlighting Asia-Pacific perspectives on issues of space sustainability. The conference featured several key announcements from governments and industries about initiatives to promote space sustainability, as well as numerous in-depth conversations and networking opportunities. The wrap-up of the 6th Summit for Space Sustainability can be viewed here, and recordings of all previous years’ content are available here.
This year’s Summit for Space Sustainability in Paris is shaping up to be even more exciting and relevant. Europe has long played a leading role in advancing key aspects of space policy, business, and research, consistently fostering international collaboration at every stage. It will be exciting to learn from European space actors’ rich knowledge and experience, but the discussions will not be confined to the European context alone. This year’s high-level conference will center on the theme, “Acting with Intention: Stability, Sustainability, and Benefit,” highlighting timely developments and innovative initiatives in the space domain. This is your opportunity to explore cutting-edge topics and discover new opportunities within a high-level, dynamic community!
In this discussion, key agenda themes will include:
- Policy updates on key initiatives for space sustainability
- Impacts of space activities on the atmosphere
- Viewpoints on space security and stability
- Contribution of space applications to sustainability challenges on Earth
- The role and viability of commercial space sustainability services as part of the space economy
Look for our announcement of keynotes and other speakers very soon!
Finally, we want to highlight our continued commitment to the next generation and ensure that all voices are included in these important conversations. This year, we are proud to offer discounted rates for both in-person and virtual participation, partner with local universities, host a mentoring breakfast for young professionals, and provide scholarships for attendance, with the goal of empowering passionate young professionals to take part in these leading international discussions.
So join us in Paris, either in person or virtually, to discuss the path forward for space sustainability! Over two full days, you will have plenty of opportunities to learn, network, and contribute.
