SWF's Krystal Azelton spoke at the Georgetown Law Summit on Emerging Technology Policy

SWF Director of Space Application Programs Krystal Azelton participated in a panel discussion at the Georgetown Law Summit on Emerging Technology Policy, which was held in Washington, DC on September 27-28. The Summit was presented by the Institute for Technology Law & Policy in collaboration with Perkins Coie. This two-day event convened academics, policymakers, practitioners, and students to discuss where we are, what comes next, and how to center accountability, inclusion, and justice in the creation of policies to address emerging technologies.

The panel, titled "One Giant Leap for Humankind: A Panel Discussion with Women in Space Policy" also featured Laura DeNardis, Professor of Technology, Ethics, and Society, Georgetown University, Julie Kearney, Chief, Space Bureau, Federal Communications Commission, Ellen Gertsen, Associate Administrator (Acting), Office of Technology, Policy, and Strategy, NASA, Ezinne Uzo-Okoro, Assistant Director for Space Policy, White House Office of Science and Technology, Pam Whitney, Staff Director, Subcommittee on Space and Aeronautics, U.S. House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology, and Kristina Belcourt, Professional Staff Member, U.S. Senate Committee on Armed Services. Ms. Azelton discussed space sustainability topics such as international cooperation on anti-satellite testing, remote sense rules, and orbital debris policy.
