Friday, June 12, 2020

SWF was pleased to host the webinar, "New Actors in the Space Domain: Latin America and the Caribbean?" on June 12, 2020.  Moderated by SWF Advisory Board Member Laura Delgado López, the panel included Victoria Valdivia, a Chilean Space Policy Advisor and Mentor at Space4Women, Julio Cesar Castillo Urdapilleta from the Mexican Space Agency, Luis Zea from the Universidad del Valle de Guatemala, and Federico Jack from Satellogic. The panelists discussed the challenges and opportunities facing new actors in the region and the issues and potential positive benefits that the growth in participants poses to existing actors.  By representing a wide variety of viewpoints ranging from government to academia to industry, the speakers were able to examine recent developments in the region and explore what structures need to be in place to ensure that all can continue to benefit from access to and use of space over the long-term.

This event also highlighted The Handbook for New Actors in Space, recently translated into Spanish by the Mexican Space Agency, as a free resource for all participants.

This event was conducted entirely in Spanish. A recording is available on the event page, along with other event materials. Secure World Foundation will also post an additional file to include English subtitles.
