SWF Releases Updated Fact Sheet on the X-37B Program
Monday, May 18, 2020
SWF has released an updated fact sheet on the U.S. Air Force's X-37B Orbital Test Vehicle (OTV), which was recently launched into orbit by the U.S. Space Force for the sixth time. The updated fact sheet contains information about the history of the program and dates of the previous five flights. It also includes a condensed discussion of the mission of the X-37B, which is likely as a platform to test new space technologies for engineering risk reduction and not as an orbital weapons platform. The updated fact sheet also discusses the transparency challenges the program faces, including the secret deployment of cubesats by OTV-5 and the failure to register them with the United Nations.
For more information, please contact the primary author of the fact sheet, SWF Director of Program Planning Dr. Brian Weeden.
