SWF and ESA Co-Host a Discussion on The Future of Space Safety

In coordination with the European Space Agency's (ESA) Washington Office, SWF hosted a luncheon keynote and panel discussion on space safety and U.S.-Europe collaboration. Jan Wörner, ESA Director General, spoke on ESA's concept of space safety which encompasses different efforts that a range of US actors are engaged in. Specifically, space situational awareness, space weather, planetary defense, and debris remediation. Panelists representing different aspects of the U.S. space enterprise discussed these topic areas and how safety in space is currently threatened, but also necessary for commercialization, national security needs, science, and more.
