Panel Discusses the Role of Standards and Best Practices in an Increasing Complex Orbital Environment

SWF Director of Private Sector Programs Ian Christensen moderated a panel on "International Standardization to Avoid Catastrophe-Orbital Paths, Debris Mitigation, Decommissioning, and Deorbiting" at the Space 2.0 conference in San Jose, CA. The panel featured representatives from NASA Ames Research Center, the Global VSAT Forum, the Satellite Industry Association, and the CubeSat Program at Cal Poly University. Discussion focused on how the increasing complexity, range of actors, and investment in utilizing the space environment is driving a push for the development of shared responsible operations principles - and how standards and best practices support and enable that increased utilization.
