Thursday, January 25, 2018
On Monday, January 22, 2018, Secure World Foundation and the Stimson Center partnered to host a by-invitation workshop discussing the possible role that the insurance sector might play in encouraging responsible behavior in space operations. The event, Insurance and Responsible Behavior in Space, consisted of a series of moderated discussions examining in turn: current trends in the space and satellite industry; the current status of the space and satellite insurance sector; and examples and lessons from the role of insurance and commercial practice in similar domains (including nuclear, maritime, and cyber). The workshop concluded with a discussion of what may be necessary for insurance to play a larger role in incentivizing behavior in the space domain.
A brief summary report will be posted here in the near future.
