Laura Delgado López Moderates AAS-AMS Google+ Hangout on Extreme Weather

On September 18, 2014, SWF Project Manager Laura Delgado López moderated a successful Google+ hangout entitled “Overcoming Extreme Weather.” The event, hosted by the American Astronautical Society (AAS) and the American Meteorological Society (AMS) and sponsored by Northrop Grumman, engaged top weather experts to highlight the unique combination of next-generation environmental science, technology, and human skills delivering accurate weather information to meet the evolving needs of decision makers across the nation.

The expert panel featured:

• Dr. Louis Uccellini, director of the National Weather Service at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration
• Jason Samenow, weather editor at the Capital Weather Gang
• Maria LaRosa, meteorologist at The Weather Company 
• Amanda Mitchell, masters student of integrated science applications at Millersville University
• Dr. Marshall Shepherd, AMS past president and Georgia Athletic Association Professor at the University of Georgia
