Sino-US Space Commercialization Workshop

When: Thursday, April 25, 2019

Where: Changsha, China

The Caelus Foundation, Secure World Foundation, and the Chinese Society of Astronautics collaborated to organize a half-day workshop focused on the potential for space commercialization related information exchange between the U.S. and China. This workshop offered academic and practitioner perspectives on both Chinese and US approaches to the commercialization of space. International and domestic speakers addressed ways to facilitate international economic policy and capability development between China, the United States, and the global community. Speakers also shared experiences from the commercialization of other industries, in order to better envision the wide range of possibilities for the space domain. A panel discussion further explored successful cases and prospects of Sino-US commercial space cooperation. The workshop aimed to explore the potential to establish a platform for further exchanges and cooperation to promote the development of global commercial space capabilities. This workshop was held in conjunction with the 2019 China Space Conference.
