Wednesday, January 24, 2018

As satellite systems and applications become an increasingly important part of the infrastructure supporting daily life; it is valuable to think about cyber-security implications of these systems.  On January 23, 2018 Secure World Foundation, Sherman & Howard, and the Space Foundation partnered to host a half-seminar, at the Space Foundation Headquarters in Colorado Springs, Colorado to discus the links between cyber security and satellite systems. The seminar featured a keynote address, as well as additional remarks from subject matter experts, and concluded with a tabletop exercise involving all participants. In the tabletop exercise, participants were asked to consider how they might respond to a incident involving spoofing of GPS signals, from the perspectives of a civil airport operator, a public electric utility, and a resort operator. Expertise in developing the tabletop exercise scenario was provided by experts from Booz Allen Hamilton and Boecore.
Speakers:
  • Keynote: Lt. General Kevin McLaughlin, U.S. Air Force (retired)
  • Jack M. Beard, Associate Professor, University of Nebraska-Lincoln College of Law
  • Jay Lindell, Aerospace and Defense Industry Champion, Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade
