Job posting: SWF DC Office Seeking Project Manager

Summary

Secure World Foundation, a private operating foundation that supports the long-term sustainable use of space, is seeking a full-time project manager to join our DC office team to assist with and manage the overall planning, administration, and coordination of project activities and goals.  SWF is seeking applicants with significant international experience, knowledge of DC and international space policy offices, and expertise about major space policy issues (including those related to human and environmental security).

Essential Duties and Job Functions

  • Plan, organize, and direct project activities, monitoring project from inception through delivery
  • Travel is periodically required (local, regional, national and/or international) to meet with stakeholders, oversee project implementation or attend conferences related to projects
  • Represent SWF in events and conferences at regional, state, national and international meetings
  • Maintain knowledge of and relationships with other agencies and organizations whose policies and practices have implications on SWF’s strategic direction
  • Write articles related to SWF objectives and contribute to SWF publications
  • Perform other duties as required

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience working with an organization in a Project/Program Manager capacity required; background in an SWF-related field and/or an NGO preferred
  • Masters level degree in a field related to the interests and needs of SWF a plus
  • Commitment to SWF’s vision, mission and organizational values
  • Understanding of international institutions that deal with space issues
  • Demonstrated facility with computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office products and experience with electronic collaboration tools
  • Proven skill and experience supervising people; must be able to work autonomously
  • Written communication skills to support internal and external content, articles, publications, policy/white papers, editing and drafting of documents as needed
  • Expertise in collecting, interpreting, analyzing, presenting and representing qualitative and quantitative data to audiences with varying backgrounds
  • Well-developed communication skills needed, including experience with giving presentations and speaking in public
  • Strong interpersonal skills and experience working as a member of a diverse, geographically scattered team is highly desirable
  • Ability to perform professionally in English is required and skill in at least one additional language is highly desirable

 

Professional experience living and working in more than one culture is a plus
