SWF Addresses COPUOS
Addressing the General Session of the United Nations Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (COPUOS), SWF Executive Director Michael Simpson noted the many ways in which the Foundation’s activity in 2015 had advanced objectives it shared with the Committee. Citing projects in capacity building, human security, space governance, disaster response and resilience, and space sustainability, Dr. Simpson emphasized that in 2015 alone, SWF has been involved in actions on five continents. The SWF statement
also noted that issues of competition between terrestrial and space-based uses of radio spectrum were growing in their potential to impact the sustainability of space applications serving people on Earth. Secure World Foundation holds consultative status with the UN Economic and Social Committee and is recognized as an official observer at COPUOS. http://swfound.org/news/all-news/2015/06/swf-actively-participates-in-the-58th-session-of-the-united-nations-committee-on-the-peaceful-uses-of-outer-space-(un-copuos)/
